The Ocean Modern take
Poul Kjærholm believed steel could be handled with the same care as wood, and the PK22 from 1956 makes the case beautifully. A lithe steel frame supports a single seat and back in leather or woven wicker. The wicker version brings rich natural texture, ideal for coastal rooms, while leather shows subtle crisscross seaming.
Style itLine up two in natural wicker beneath a wide window, with a low stone table between them.

From the maker
With the PK22™ Easy Chair (1956), Danish designer Poul Kjærholm continued his explorations in shaping steel, an industrial material he felt could be treated with the same reverence as wood, but in a modern vernacular. The PK22’s simple, lithe frame supports a single seat and back piece upholstered in leather or woven in wicker. Crisscross seaming on the leather front and a single seam on the back add subtle visual interest to its clean-lined simplicity, while the woven wicker adds rich natural texture.— Design Within Reach
