The Ocean Modern take
Sarah Ellison looked to 1970s conversation pits when shaping Float, and the result invites people to gather close. Extra-plush channel tufting filled with high-density foam, deep seats and wide sloping arms make it comfortable from every angle. In velvet or bouclé, its rounded mass feels warm and enveloping against white walls and pale floors.
Style itSet Float in La Creme across from a pair of low lounge chairs to create a sunken-feeling gathering spot.

From the maker
While designing her new Float Sofa (2023), Sarah Ellison was inspired by 1970s conversation pits – with the goal of “encouraging connection through design,” she says. The result: A welcoming, generously sized seating collection with extra-plush channel tufting, deep seats, and wide sloping armrests for comfort from every angle. High-density foam fills the channels for extra cushioning.— Design Within Reach
