The Ocean Modern take
Gabriel Tan imagined soft islands, private getaways, when designing Softlands exclusively for DWR. A rounded, sheltering teak frame holds an airy woven-rope back and soft cushions in durable Sunbrella fabric. The solid teak will develop a silvery patina over time, aging gracefully alongside weathered decking and dune grass.
Style itSet the Sahara cushions on a deck with a low teak table and lanterns for evening light.

From the maker
In designing the Softlands Outdoor Sofa (2024) exclusively for DWR, Gabriel Tan began with the idea of creating “soft islands” that feel like private getaways. The sofa’s rounded, sheltering teak frame with an airy, woven-rope back and soft seat and back cushions offer indulgent comfort, inviting form, and warm texture. The neutral cushions are upholstered in durable Sunbrella® fabric, bringing a sophisticated aesthetic to any deck, patio or yard.— Design Within Reach
